Ting Kau Bridge is one of the longest cable-stayed bridges in the world. This project involved delivery of the total design and build service for development of the 1,875 metre-long triple-tower and cable-stayed bridge and the elevated approach viaduct to carry the dual three-lane expressway, which links Tuen Mun Road to the Tsing Yi section of Route 3, as well as reclamation of an island for a 200 metre-tall central tower. The triple towers support two cable-stayed main spans, one measuring 448 metres and the other 476 metres, with cables radiating downwards to support the bridge decks of composite steel and concrete construction.
The elevated approach viaduct and the two slip road ramps comprised variable depth pre-stressed concrete box girders constructed in-situ using balanced cantilever methodology. Other works included viaducts, site formation, roads and drainage, slope works, landscaping and associated works, covering extensive traffic management.
